-- AWESOME POST --
I'm a college student...
Joining the PMI is AWESOME!
Not only to do you get the PMBOK 3rd, and 4th editions for free online instantly, but you ALSO get access to over 100 other valuable Project Management books that you'd find on Amazon - and have to buy to get hardcopy.
As for this link about a free PMBOK - I find it hilarious! ...especially all the crying and moaning from the freeloaders. Take a lesson from the PMBOK - if you don't have the funds, then you need to reconsider your project! (If you can't afford the book, you've got bigger problems with becoming a project manager than a small membership fee or $50 - go back and re-think what you're doing, 'cause you're not ready to be a PM yet.)
Also a laugh...
I've seen some "boot-camp" PMP classes advertised... one said "if you manage project meetings by going around the room and having team members give status reports, or ask people to find ways to get things done faster - do NOT come". Basically, it means you're missing the BASICS needed to step up to the next level of getting a PMP certification and wasting your time... and money.
and...
How does a minimally successful person with 7,500 hours of PROFESSIONAL Project Management experience not have $50? (7,500 hrs are required to get certified, not just a "test").
Ha!

Great website. Many thanks. I have a few problems.
1.I couldnt import the frx file. Does this contain the code? In the end I copied and paste from webpage.
------
If you import the form, the frx will come with it. You do not need to do anything about it as it should be taken care of in the import automatically -JD
2. In the main file, exportResourceUsage, you have left the type work data as blank? You suggest you shouldnt leave it blank!
-------
Do as I say, not as I do. -JD
3. I am just using the exportResourceUsage sub routine. I have defined the deafult parameters. I have run the sub-routine and fell over at:
Dim xlRange As Excel.Range
with compile error of "user-defined type not defined".
--------
Open the visual basic editor and make sure that you have selected the form or code you are working on. From the tools menu, select references and browse to the Microsoft Excel object library. Make sure there is a check next to it. - JD
Many thanks,
Mark

The orrery is fascinating. I did not know that anyone was commissioning works like this since before the Russian Revolution. The picture is very good. If this is your photograph I would like your permission to add it to my site - www.The-Thinking-Edge.com.
I also enjoyed the other articles and confess to wasting 15 minutes of precious time that I will never get back reading about Rat Bikes. Thanks again.
Now - something for you to take a look at if you haven't already discovered it. The Falkirk Wheel in Scotland. See it to believe it http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/falkirk/falkirkwheel/. A very interesting engineering project.

I typed in 'PMP certification hints' ... does that me a bad person.
I am a great PM (and have ADHD), but not so great with tests, especially standardized ones. Looking for hints on the ... NEVER straight forward comprehension questions... is that so wrong?
Cheating is completely wrong in any situation... I think it is the last thing covered in all PMP materials, uh... ethics I think?

This is exactly what I was looking for.
As you guessed I'm not a VBA programmer (used to be an RPG programmer) and I'm creating a spreadsheet for a personal money course and this is what I needed for some calculations.
Thanks again!

I can't get ProjDateDiff to work and it is driving me insane. I'm using MS Project Standard 2003 and I'm trying to create a custom formula using ProjDateDiff and I keep getting #ERROR and Project offers no help to indicate why. I tried ProjDateDiff([Project Start],[Project Finish],"standard") and it doesn't work. Do you have any idea why it doesn't work? I tried also hard-coding two dates (enclosed in double-quotes as well as # signs) and the formula doesn't work that way either. Is there an option somewhere in Project I need to enable in order to make ProjDateDiff work?
----------------------
I'd try leaving the parameter for the calendar blank or use "Standard". - Jack

Make a reference to excel by going to the tools menu, select References, then browse to find the Microsoft Excel 12.0 Object library. CHeck the box next to it. -JD

FreeSlack is calculated based on your task durations and dependencies. Unfortunately you can not set it manually. -JD

Go ahead and download the book and post thanks to Atul mentioning PMBOK, that will improve search engine ratings, also, if you find other locations where you can download reading material for any exam, go ahead and post it.

Hi,
This post has been very useful for me, thanks.
Can I have multiple event handler? I.e. two Project_Open subs?
I want to distribute my macros to others and they might already have a Project_Open event handler.
Thanks,
Yoram

I do not think that would work out. The only way to be sure is to test it out. -JD

Actually I have a question not a comment. Does MS Project Server 2007 require MS Office 2007 to already be installed on the network? I'm looking into getting our client to use Server 2007 and wondering if they will have to upgrade to Office 2007 before we can even think on getting Server 2007. Any assistance / advice would be greatly appreciated.
Bill Vickers
wvickers@eaglerayinc.com
---------------
No. Project Server 2007 is installed on a server. Servers do not typically require office applications to be installed. They will need Project Professional 2007 to connect to the Project Server, but it can be installed without the rest of Office 2007 and can coexist with Office 2003 and earlier. -JD
