Changing the background color for a task cell in Microsoft Project is now a two-step process:
- Step 1 - Upgrade to Microsoft Project 2007 - you just can not do this in Project 2003 or earlier.
- Step 2 - Rightclick on the cell, choose "font" and set background color and pattern.
Sadly there are still only 16 colors to choose from, but they are getting there.

You can do this the same way in MS Project 2003. This is not a new feature for Project 2007.

Hi Chip,
You say you can change the cell background colour in Project 2003........how did you do this ?
Many thanks,
William
Note: Chip has written privately and noted that he was mistaken about the background color. He was speaking of text color. You can NOT change cell background color in Project 2003. -Jack
