There is no such thing as a "free PMBOK download" anymore. The closest you can get for free are a few exerpts. You can find them at the PMI site. Sorry. Personally I think it should be free. But of course PMI has to give some value to their members...
I just mention it here because a large number of search referals in my logs show that people are looking for it.

The SEI is in a similar position as PMI, yet SEI releases its book for free without loosing money, I guess.
The result is that the number of CMMI implementations is growing at a much faster pace than PMBOK's...
PMI have probably not yet understood the new types of business models...

Cesar, The point that some people are missing is that the PMBOK is owned by PMI and they do not want to make it a publically available document. You may buy it from them or get a free copy by joining PMI, but any other source is engaging in copyright infringement. My position is that they should release it into the public domain, but they have not, and they prosecute any who infringe on their intellectual property. -Jack

You barely literate lunkheads should think twice before attempting to become PMPs...if you are unable to figure out why the PMBOK is not free and you are unable to follow simple instructions on a website, then you are not going to make a good project manager.
Think about becoming:
- a boiler-maker
- a panel-beater
- a goat-herder
- a wood-carrier
- a helpdesk worker
- a used car salesperson
A career as a PM is not for you.
However, if you are able to use any bittorrent client you will be able to find freely available (but generally non-printable)copies of the PMBOK v3.

PMBOK isn't free so PMI can guard the gates to PMP--look at what happened to MSCD and Java certs. Can't throw a Google search without hitting a resume holding claim to some form of the two.
And, PMP wasn't fully recognized until IEEE adopted the guidelines as a standard in 1998.
