An American Invention

This is old news, but then again sometimes it is good to read the classics. Geert Hofstede starts off his article on Cultural constraints in management theories with the sentence: "Management as the word is presently used is an American invention."

It is certainly worth looking at if you work across multiple timelines and borders. And it certainly argues against the concepts of "one size fits all" and "one size to sell" which are common among consultants.
